The Edinboro “GREAT” Commercial Contest

January 3, 2009

Yes, that’s right folks, it’s finally here.

Edinboro decided to have a Great Commercial Contest, where the students make commercials for Edinboro and then the winner is displayed during the superbowl on NBC (I believe). The finalists get TVs and Cameras, also.

HOORAY!

Well, here’s a shining example of how planned out this contest was (and don’t start thinking that I’m stubborn and I submitted something, because I sure didn’t). The videos on the link on the bottom of this post were posted on that website on a first-come-first-serve basis. That means that one or two people submit something that looks awful RIGHT AWAY. It’s rushed and hideous and a terrible representation of Edinboro. Then Edinboro University puts out an e-mail reminder about the contest and the webpage, so everyone clicks on it, and most likely clicks the “vote” link for those videos.

The contest officially ended yesterday, so people who took it more seriously had allllll the waaaay until yesterday to work on it, as opposed to submitting it a day after it was announced. So commercials are just being submitted now, that have 10 or less votes, while the old stagnant ugly commercials that were immediately made and submitted when the contest was announced are sitting there collecting over 800-900 votes. See the problem here?

They should have all been released on that website on the same time. Easy solution. It’s called planning, Edinboro University. Quit wasting your money on useless things and try planning something out correctly.

Whats more puzzling..

Is that the contest had a “Submission” period (November something til yesterday) and then a “Voting” period (yesterday until the 15th of Jan. I think).. Why? What’s the point of having either of these if you could have voted all this time, during both periods? I think all of the votes need to be immediately reset, and then we could see who really deserves to win this.

Completely, COMPLETELY unfair.
